Mel B's drunken New Year's binge came close to placing the Spice Girls' UK show in total jeopardy, Geri Halliwell revealed on stage last night. Halliwell, 35, lifted the lid on pictures that appeared to show Scary Spice Mel B, now known as Boozy Spice, tumbling down stairs after a Spice dinner in London.
Speaking to the crowd at the beginning of their first show of 2008 at London's O2 Arena, she said Mel, 32, got 'very drunk' at the Claridges party.
Ginger Spice told the delirious crowd, including close pal George Michael: 'I have an exclusive for you.'
She said Mel B, Mel C and Baby Spice Emma Bunton got 'very drunk' on New Year's Eve and were the last ladies standing at 3am.
She then warned: 'Mel B got so drunk she fell down a flight of stairs and twisted her ankle so she won't be busting the moves tonight.'
But despite one slip up on stage, Brown put in a stella show, cracking her whip with ease during her solo, 'Are you gonna go my way'.
Mel's injury is the latest ankle woe to dog the Spice comeback after Emma Bunton was left on crutches following a stage stumble in Vegas last year.
Meanwhile, young Cruz Beckham, 2, seems to be loving life in the spotlight, as he spent the night waving to delirious fans from proud father David's lap.
